Granada (Nicaragua) to Copan Ruinas (Honduras)

Been off the radar a while in the Bay Islands luckily for you its more pictures than blurb as we've been doing nearly nothing for a while, which is what it looks like you lot are doing too (1.46 pounds to the dollar?).

Last time I put pen to paper we were about to leave Granada, which after deciding not to visit anywhere between there and the Bay Islands became a four day mission, involving 7 hours on chicken buses and a night in Esteli, a painless border crossing into Honduras and another 6 hours on chicken buses with a night in the seedy capital city of Tegucigulpa (thankfully shortened by most to Tegus), day 3 we treated ourselves to more comfortable bus for another 8 hours with a night in La Ceiba, the following day we turn up at the ferry port to find out the ferry to Utila was canceled due to the sea conditions so we decide to head to Roatan as that ferry is still running and spend the next 1.5 hours with everyone around us spewing (there wasn't a full stop for us so I didn't do one for you either) (and chicken bus is a gringo term for an old American school bus).

As you can imagine we opted for a bit of comfort on Roatan staying in a private cabana, and being a hermit for a day. The weather was on and off while we were there as Honduras is experiencing its wet season, meaning it wasn't oppressively hot everyday, but there were higher numbers of mosquitos and sandflies and noseeums (which you really almost couldn't see um).

When we did leave the room we indulged in days of snorkeling, I opted not to dive partly due to water vision conditions, and partly due to the pants pound.

As you can see the snorkeling was good, seeing the weird (moray and bigger moray) and wonderful, and lots of plastic bags which look a bit like a squid and choke the turtles.

And in the evenings we spent many drunken nights with gringos and locals improving my drunken Spanish skills...

We are now in Copan Ruinas to visit the Maya ruins, which takes us to day 253.
